Having no family or close friends doesn't help. The only thing that got me through this far, is the fact that I received custody of my children. They were a toddler and newborn at the time. Since she was a sociopathic narcissist and lost - the abuse, character assassination, and endless false calls to the police and child services did not end until both children reached age 18. I gained over a hundred pounds, and I am basically a shut-in. Not all people can recover and not all will.

I am sorry you are dealing with this. Your description sounds very accurate and familiar to me. Hellbent is a good word to describe the behavior for sure. I wish I had better advice other than focus on yourself and limit contact as much as possible.

My experience is with a family member who always seemed self centered but not really disturbed until another family members death, then they dropped the "nice" persona and revealed themself and it has been horrific to be on the receiving end of their hatred I guess I would call it, and they can be very dangerous, violent and abusive in almost unimaginable ways. I have sought help from a number of therapists but many don't seem to understand the level of abuse or even that it is abuse. The sociopath is very skilled at turning things around so they appear to be the victim. I don't like the term flying monkeys but my abuser has used a lot of people to help with stalking, defamation, home invasions with assaults. Law enforcement can be fooled by them too. It can be a long term ordeal. Cutting off contact doesn't necessarily stop the abuse if they are hellbent on destroying a person. I'm sure in most situations it would dissuade them but I think it depends on their level of sociopathy, it can be a truly frightening ordeal. I really never knew how disturbed they were nor how much they hated me.
